Resolution 2231 was adopted by the United Nations Security Council on 20 July 2015 and provides for sanctions measures on proliferation and proliferation financing of weapons of mass destruction relating to Iran under Article 25 of the Charter of the United Nations. UNSCR 2231 replaces previously adopted resolutions, including: 1696 (2006), 1737 (2006), 1747 (2007), 1803 (2008), 1835 (2008), and 1929 (2010).
