The Annual Meeting of the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG) is held every year with delegates from APG member jurisdictions, the Secretariat of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and technical member organisations such as the World Bank (WB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), among many others. The meeting addresses regular and pressing issues related to anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing and counter-proliferation financing.
APG 2024 lasted six days, the first two of which were devoted to preparatory sessions. The plenary sessions took place over the following four days, alongside related technical programmes and workshops, including: a session of the Mutual Evaluation Committee (MEC) to consider the mutual evaluation reports of Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, the Marshall Islands and Nauru; adoption of Myanmar's report on Recommendation 8 on non-profit organisations (NPOs); consideration of the observer status of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea; governance matters; the election of the co-chair of the APG Operations Committee; and many other related issues.

APG 2024 was attended by more than 300 delegates from member jurisdictions, observers and international organisations. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr Julien Brazeau of the Department of Finance Canada and Commissioner Ian McCartney of the Australian Federal Police. The Vietnamese delegation comprised representatives of ministries such as the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Justice; ministerial-level agencies such as the State Bank of Vietnam; the Supreme People's Procuracy; the Government Office; and commercial banks, and was led by a Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam.
At the meeting, the head of the Vietnamese delegation presented in detail the measures Vietnam has taken under Recommendation 20 on reporting suspicious transactions related to money laundering, affirming Vietnam's determination to implement the National Action Plan setting out the Vietnamese Government's commitments to the FATF. The Vietnamese delegation also held bilateral meetings with technical assistance organisations to seek their support in addressing Vietnam's deficiencies in anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing and counter-proliferation financing.

Through APG 2024, Vietnam clearly demonstrated that it is a responsible member of the APG, joining hands with the international community in efforts to address deficiencies in anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing and counter-proliferation financing regimes.
